Consistently named as one of the top college baseball venues in America, Dudy Noble Field at Mississippi State University set the standard for on-campus facilities when it was built in the mid-1980s. Having now been surpassed by many of its peer facilities, MSU hired WBA Architecture, in association with Populous, to comprehensively reimagine and redesign the facility from the ground up. This strategy helped meet the goal of reestablishing Dudy Noble Field as the finest on-campus, collegiate baseball facility in America.

WBA Architecture worked with the Golden Triangle Development LINK to design their new 8,000 SF office in Columbus, MS. After assisting the client in site selection, the team landed on a location adjacent to the regional airport—an ideal fit given the organization’s role in bringing industry partners into the area and its proximity to many of their existing developments. The new facility includes nine offices (one flex), a large training room for meetings and events, a breakroom with kitchen, and a shower for staff returning from site visits. The exterior features metal paneling paired with rich wood cladding sourced from Alabama-based Overseas Wood Company. Built by Columbus contractor Burks-Mordecai, the project benefited from a smooth, collaborative construction process.

The new MTSU Tennis Complex features eight new tennis courts with a spectator platform that includes bench-back and chair-back seating for 300 and a covered VIP area for events. The site centerpiece is a new tennis support building that hosts locker rooms, meeting rooms, concessions, and coaches’ offices with pedestrian connection to the academic core of MTSU’s campus. The building design highlights the loft and movement of the game of tennis with a large front porch and glass-walled team room, integrating building systems in a unique, but cost-effective manner.
