Capri Theatre

The historic Capri Theatre, the centerpiece of Fondren’s business district, first opened its doors in 1940 as “The Pix.” After remaining dormant for three decades, the original theater building and its neighbors have been renovated and restored to their original design with modifications for a modern entertainment district. While the exterior faces of the building appear as they did decades ago, the interiors now house a 169-seat dine-in theater as well as a Tiki Bar (The Pearl), Bowling Alley and Restaurant (Highball Lanes).

I had worked with WBA on Ed’s Burger Joint in Hattiesburg and really admired them. It is a really talented firm. We spent a few hours talking about this project at their office, walked the site, and my cynicism very quickly turned to enthusiasm to get involved.
